We are really excited about the Cambridge Legal Walk coming up in just 4 short weeks on Monday, June 13th. We already have 10 teams signed up and ready to walk and raise funds to support access to advice for all. We are proud to have HHJ David Farell QC; Robert Bourns, Vice President of The Law Society of England and Wales; Sir David Arculus, the High Sheriff of Cambridgeshire; and Karim Khalil QC, the Chairman of the Cambridge and Peterborough Bar Mess, as our lead walkers.
The Eastern Legal Support Trust has been established to support the provision of free legal advice in the East of England since 2010, and the Cambridge Legal Walk is an important part of our fundraising activities. The organisations we support make a huge difference in the lives of many people. The recent cuts to legal aid and the reduced household income for many working families due to the recession have increased the importance of free access to specialist legal advice for the poorest and most vulnerable people in our community.
Registration for the event will open from 5pm with the walk starting at 5:30pm. About two hours later, walkers cross the finish line where refreshments will be provided, and gratefully received by thirsty walkers.
We would like to get as many people involved as possible, so gather your co-workers, friends, family, and why not dogs, to join us for an evening of walking and having fun while raising vital funds for legal advice agencies!
